We all have certain fairytales that resonate with something deep within us--come explore a Sicilian version of Rapunzel with me!

Did you know the classic fairytales you know from childhood--Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Rapunzel--exist in different forms in different places? In this workshop, I'll be retelling a Sicilian version of Rapunzel that really grabbed me when I was choosing a story. I think it will make for some really great cards (I've already gotten a few from it!).

In this workshop, I'll briefly introduce you to SoulCollage® , tell you a version of the story, and we'll explore it briefly together before making cards.

Stories have power. The stories we tell ourselves about ourselves (perfectionism, inner critics, self-confidence, deservingness) are easier to explore when we’re looking at characters in a story instead of ourselves directly. Stories–folktales and fairytales in particular–contain the bones of societal rules, of the archetypes and patterns we live by. Mining these stories is so rich!

My goal with SoulCollage® workshops is to introduce participants to archetypal stories, through folktales and fairytales, and then mine our discoveries for the characters we see ourselves in, the ways that our community is mirrored (or not) in the stories, and the cultural archetypes we live by. SoulCollage® weaves together images from any print source you can imagine, your own personal photographs, works of art–the sky’s the limit--and this weaving is a great way to explore the stories we tell ourselves about ourselves, our society, and our dreams for the future.
